Mu ic Mini try

The sole purpose of the Music Ministry is to exalt the name of Jesus Christ. All of our performing groups seek to do just that by leading in worship and ministry situations in and out of the church walls. We invite you to participate in one or more of our groups and be a part of the music ministry team at FBC.

The Chorale is open to all adults and serves as the primary worship leading group in our services. They rehearse Wednesdays in the Worship Center from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to provide special music each week. The group expands during the Christmas and Easter seasons with the Christmas Dinner Theater Chorale and the Easter Pageant Chorale. During these times, we are joined by singers from the community and our youth singers. Additional Sunday rehearsals are added for these special events.

Worship Orchestra is open to adults and high school students proficient on their instruments. the group plays studio orchestrations accompanying the congregational singing and anthems on the third Sunday of each month with rehearsal prior to events. This group also expands at Christmas and Easter to include string players from Baylor.

Adult Handbells is our one current choir ringing on a 5-octave set of Schulmerich Bells. The group is often in need of subs and occasionally a replacement. If you have played before or have good reading skills, contact Marc.

Youth Praise Team and Drama Team rehearses Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. and leads Worship for the youth at the 7:00 p.m. group session. Kim Avery is in charge of these groups.

Children's Choir, grades 1-6, meet Wednesday nights at the 6:00 p.m. in the children's room. They are under the leadership of Shelli Killingsworth and give two presentations a year: at Christmas and at the end-of-the-year in May.

Preschool Choir, ages 3, 4 & 5, meet Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the children's room. They are under the leadership of Jodi Commander and learn many fun activity songs.

Bradley Quartet, one of our oldest institutions at First Baptist Church, sings monthly for our end-of-month "gospel service." Accompanist and Manager of the group is June Bradley. They also occasionally sing for events outside the church.

The Mexia Easter Pageant
Mexia Easter Pageant was begun in 1985 to annually present the life of Jesus Christ to the people of Central Texas during the Easter season. The 70-voice choir and the 30-piece orchestra represents not only the musicians of First Baptist Church, but also singers and players from other area churches and Baylor University. The "pageant family" is a blessed group having the opportunity to tell this ageless story each year.
